Pretend

An ancient blog post under Pay Attention.

In crowded buildings or walking the streets of the city he is alone. He’s used to it by now. But sometimes it happens that he meets someone who is more likely to be It than anyone else, and it’s at this point that he has to come out a bit, pretend a little, to lure. Be engaging, be fun. Because if he just lets her go without trying at least a little, he’ll wonder for the rest of his life.

But it’s no way to start, and certainly no way to continue — with lies, you see. And all he can do is rebuild his mind word by word, to show who he is and his hopes and intentions, and leave it somewhere obvious so that if she is curious enough to look for it, she will know.

This is part seven of a short-short story series, called Pay Attention.

That's all there is, there isn't any more.
