The War Game Manual 8th Basic

5.0 Using Transports

Transports are special units that can transport Riflemen and Battery units, helping them move around the battlefield a little faster.

5.1 Loading

To load a unit, simply move it onto an empty Transport. Transports can contain only one unit at a time. Transports can be loaded even if their turn is over.

When a Rifleman or Mortar is loaded its turn is ended, but the Transport may still move. Both unit and Transport are commanded as one until the unit unloads. Riflemen and Mortar inside are given the same Mov as the Transport.

When an Artillery piece is loaded its turn is ended, but the transport may still move. Both Artillery and Transport are commanded as one unit until the Artillery piece unloads. Artillery is not given the Mov of the Transport. It only has its Mov increased by one, from Mov 3 to Mov 4.

You cannot transport a Transport.

5.3 Unloading units

To unload a unit, place it within a one click radius of the Transport it was riding in. Both the Transport and the unloaded unit have their turns ended by doing this.

5.4 Attacking from inside

If both the Transport and the unit inside have a turn left they can move and attack enemy units. Being in a Transport does not affect the way they fight. Attacking ends the turn for both Transport and unit. Transports cannot attack if they are empty.
