The War Game Manual 8th Basic

Appendix 3: Terrain definitions

Flat ground (G) is the generic terrain. It applies when the surface is relatively level.

Paths (P) include roads, trails, bridges and train tracks.

Heights (H) are areas that are at least half a click higher than flat ground. Also includes the roofs of buildings and the levels higher than ground level in a building.

Forests (F) have large, densely packed trees, so they are inappropriate for vehicles but easily traversed by Riflemen and Mortars.
